Our chasen is made by artisans who continue traditional Japanese methods of bamboo crafting. Each piece begins with carefully selected bamboo that is naturally dried over several seasons, allowing it to mature without chemicals or forced processing. Through precise hand-cutting and shaping, the whisk is created to be supple and resilient. Each whisk includes a stainless-steel NIWA Seed Charm.
Due to the craftsmanship involved, only a limited quantity has been made.

Using the Chasen
The whisk is secured to the paper box with a simple rice-based adhesive. Hold the handle and slowly lift the chasen upward to remove it. Once removed, gently wipe the base of the handle with a damp cloth and rinse the whisk with warm water before beginning your preparation.
Preparing the Chasen
Before use, warm your matcha bowl with hot water. Place the chasen inside and whisk lightly for a brief moment around ten seconds so the bamboo softens gently. The whisk is delicate, so please avoid leaving it in the water longer than necessary.
Care & Handling
Because the chasen is made from natural bamboo, it responds to its environment. Sudden changes in temperature or direct airflow from heaters or air conditioners may cause the bamboo to dry too quickly. When whisking, please avoid pressing the tips firmly into the bottom of the bowl, as this may cause breakage. After use, rinse with warm water only, never detergent and let the whisk dry naturally in a shaded, well-ventilated place. Please avoid dishwashers, dryers, and direct sunlight, as they may affect the bamboo’s structure.
A humidity level of around 40–60% is ideal for storage. Over time, small lines or natural marks may appear on the bamboo. These are not defects but part of the natural character that develops as the chasen matures.
